Ms. Kalyani Singh, Assistant Professor (Food & Nutrition) was the resource person. Ms. Kalyani informed that Proper nourishment and women empowerment is directly related as it lays the foundation for good health. There is a problem of dual burden of malnutrition that is overweight (Obesity) and undernutrition. The main problem of it is unhealthy diet plan. Now, there is triple burden malnutrition (i.e. deficiency of micronutrients) caused by Eating too less. According to her, distribution of rice, wheat, and pulses in the PDS system has failed to provide balanced food security and is the main cause of healthy food insecurity. Cutting carbos in diet is not the solution but enrich the food with variety of colored fruits and vegetables. She discussed the variety of nutrient rich foods. “Eat smart is the solution to all health problems”. “Moderation is key to the good health”. Balance food choices are best to maintain the good health.
